Applicable to a type testing, CE test or regular inspection.

1. Documents
During the inspection, a technical file must be present with the construction lift or passenger goods construction lift, which contains at least:

  • instruction manual;
  • electrical circuit diagram and/or hydraulic diagram;
  • the previous inspection report (if applicable);

and for a type testing also:

  • structural drawings;
  • calculations;
  • brochure.

2. Setup
The construction lift/passenger goods construction lift must be fully complete and in working condition. For a type testing or CE test, a construction lift must be set up with a non-accessible platform at full height, in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer and a construction lift with accessible platform must be set up at its maximum freestanding height. A passenger goods construction lift must be set up in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

3. Use
During the inspection, the construction lift/passenger goods construction lift cannot be used for other purposes.

4. Inspection site
The inspection site must have sufficient bearing capacity, must be flat, spacious and free of obstacles.

5. Presence of specialist
During the inspection, a specialist must be present on behalf of the client, who is fully familiar with all details of the construction lift/passenger goods construction lift, is responsible for carrying out the tests and to whom the report can be submitted. The client ensures that the construction lift/passenger goods construction lift is operated by a person who is familiar with its operation and the nature of the activities to be performed.

6. Tests
The client provides the test load and the tools for the test and places them close to the construction lift/passenger goods construction lift. The test load may not be made up of parts which are not well connected together and have little rigidity.

6.1 Testing of raising and descending

  • CE test: The raising and descending movements are tested with the nominal load, increased by 25% across the full path of the lift.
  • Regular inspection: The tests are performed with nominal load or, if a load limiter is present, with 120% of the nominal load.

6.2 Test of safety gear
For a type testing, the safety gear is tested, as described in the standard under which the type comes.
For a CE test which we perform (commissioning inspection), the safety gear is tested with 125% of the nominal load.
In other cases, it is sufficient to test without load, unless there are doubts about the proper functioning of the safety gear or the manufacturer states otherwise in its instructions.
